Revision Note: V1.0 (February 11, 2014): Bulletin published.
Summary: This security update resolves a privately reported vulnerability in Microsoft Windows. The vulnerability could allow remote code execution if a user views a specially crafted webpage using Internet Explorer. An attacker would have no way to force users to view specially crafted content. Instead, an attacker would have to convince users to take action, typically by getting them to click a link in an email message or in an Instant Messenger message that takes users to an attacker's website, or by getting them to open an attachment sent through email.

Revision Note: V1.0 (February 11, 2014): Bulletin published.
Summary: This security update resolves two publicly disclosed vulnerabilities and one privately reported vulnerability in Microsoft .NET Framework. The most severe vulnerability could allow elevation of privilege if a user visits a specially crafted website or a website containing specially crafted web content. In all cases, however, an attacker would have no way to force users to visit such websites. Instead, an attacker would have to convince users to visit the website, typically by getting them to click a link in an email message or in an Instant Messenger message that takes them to the attacker's website.

Revision Note: V1.0 (February 11, 2014): Bulletin published.
Summary: This security update resolves one publicly disclosed vulnerability and twenty-three privately reported vulnerabilities in Internet Explorer. The most severe vulnerabilities could allow remote code execution if a user views a specially crafted webpage using Internet Explorer. An attacker who successfully exploited the most severe of these vulnerabilities could gain the same user rights as the current user. Users whose accounts are configured to have fewer user rights on the system could be less impacted than users who operate with administrative user rights.

SINGAPORE —
Feb. 11,
2014 — Tuesday at the Singapore Airshow 2014, Microsoft Corp. and Lufthansa Systems are showcasing the new BoardConnect app for Windows 8. The app allows airlines to create a unique experience for their in-flight passenger entertainment systems. The interactive solution will allow users to watch the latest movies, order food, shop, find information about their destinations and much more. The entertainment platform can be quickly customized for new airline customers and allows them to configure devices to offer a uniquely branded product to their passengers.
“We are making BoardConnect available on Windows 8 to give passengers even more choices to use the platform,” said Norbert Müller, senior vice president of BoardConnect at Lufthansa Systems. “This makes it easy for airlines to give their passengers a superior in-flight entertainment experience that allows them to watch a wide range of movies, look at flight information and shop, all from their seat.”
The mobile era is causing a fundamental disruption in the aviation industry. With the cloud making technology more accessible than ever, businesses in the aviation industry have to shift and increase their technology investments in areas where they haven’t historically focused. Now, technology can be a route to cost savings, growing revenue and staying ahead of the competition.
Lufthansa Systems joins other companies building aviation-focused solutions for Windows. Microsoft and Lufthansa Systems are working to give airlines a mobile advantage by creating an in-flight entertainment experience that delights passengers, moving pilots to electronic flight bags in the cockpit, and providing flight attendants with devices and apps that provide powerful point-of-sale and customer service capabilities.
“Airlines recognize that technological advances are a way to rise above the competition and be seen as innovators in the industry,” said Susan Hauser, corporate vice president, Enterprise & Partner Group at Microsoft. “We are excited to work with our partners to create a powerful set of devices and services that will help airlines be more efficient and productive and allow them to give their passengers a much better flying experience.”
In addition to the new BoardConnect app, Lufthansa Systems’ Purser Mobile Device application, mCabin, will also be available on Windows 8 devices in the near future. The mCabin solution provides airline crews with all relevant flight details at a glance. An interactive duty calendar, briefings, crew positioning, and passenger information and reporting help airlines improve their onboard services and, subsequently, customer satisfaction. This marks another area of cooperation between Microsoft and Lufthansa Systems.
Founded in 1975, Microsoft (Nasdaq “MSFT”) is the worldwide leader in software, services and solutions that help people and businesses realize their full potential.

Paris, France - Feb. 10, 2014
DALIBO is proud to announce the release of pgBadger 5, a PostgreSQL performance analyzer, built for speed with fully detailed reports based on your Postgres log files.
This major version comes with a bunch of new metrics such as the SQL queries times histogram, some fixes in the new HTML5 design and the ability to build cumulative reports.
New incremental mode
The incremental mode is an old request issued at PgCon Ottawa 2012 that concern the ability to construct incremental reports with successive runs of pgBadger. It is now possible to run pgbadger once a day (or even every hours) and have cumulative reports per day and per week. A top index page allow you to go directly to the weekly and daily reports.
Here's screenshot of the new index page
http://dalibo.github.io/pgbadger/screenshots/pgbadgerv5_index.png
This mode have been build with simplicity in mind. You just need to running pgbadger with cron as follow:
0 23 * * * pgbadger -q -I -O /var/www/pgbadger/ /var/log/postgresql.log
This is enough to have daily and weekly reports viewable using your browser.
Take a look at our demo here: http://dalibo.github.io/pgbadger/demov5/
There's also a useful improvement to allow pgBadger to seek directly to the last position in the same log file after a successive execution. This feature is only available using the incremental mode or the -l option and parsing a single log file. Let's say you have a weekly rotated log file and want to run pgBadger each days. With 2GB of log per day, pgbadger was spending 5 minutes per block of 2 GB to reach the last position in the log, so at the end of the week this feature will save you 35 minutes. Now pgBadger will start parsing new log entries immediately. This feature is compatible with the multiprocess mode using -j option (n processes for one log file).
New Histograms
This new major release adds some new metrics like an hourly graphic representation of the average count and duration of top normalized queries. Same for errors or events, you will be able to see graphically at which hours they are occurring the most often.
For example:
http://dalibo.github.io/pgbadger/screenshots/pgbadgerv5_histogram.png
There's also a new "Histogram of query times", which is a new graph in the top queries slide that shows the query times distribution during the analyzed period.
For example:
http://dalibo.github.io/pgbadger/screenshots/pgbadgerv5_histogram_2.png
There is also some graphic and report improvements, such as the mouse tracker formatting that have been reviewed. It now shows a vertical crosshair and all dataset values at a time when mouse pointer moves over series. Automatic queries formatting has also been changed, it is now done on double click event as simple click was painful when you wanted to copy some part of the queries.
Autovacuum reports now associate database name to the autovacuum and autoanalyze entries. Statistics now refer to "dbname.schema.table", previous versions was only showing the pair "schema.table".
This release also adds "Session peak" information and a report about "Simultaneous sessions". Parameters log_connections and log_disconnections must be enabled in postgresql.conf for this.
Links & Credits
DALIBO would like to thank the developers who submitted patches and the users who reported bugs and feature requests, especially Martin Prochazka, Herve Werner, tmihail, Reeshna Ramakrishnan, Guillaume Smet, Alexander Korotkov and Casey Allen Shobe.
pgBadger is an open project. Any contribution to build a better tool is welcome. You just have to send your ideas, features requests or patches using the GitHub tools or directly on our mailing list.

NEW YORK
— Feb.
6
, 2014
— Microsoft Corp. has been selected to be the cloud encoding and hosting platform provider for NBC Olympics, a division of the NBC Sports Group, during its production of the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, Feb. 6–23. As a result, viewers will be able to watch Winter Olympics programming via more than 50 live high-definition streams and on demand. The announcement was made today by Richard Cordella, senior vice president and general manager, Digital Media, NBC Sports Group, and Scott Guthrie, acting lead of Microsoft’s Cloud and Enterprise Group.
Through the power of cloud computing, NBC will use Windows Azure Media Services, a highly scalable video service platform hosted in Microsoft’s datacenters, to publish and stream coverage of the 2014 Sochi Winter Games. Whether on an Internet-connected TV, tablet or smartphone, viewers will be able to access live and on-demand content via the NBC Sports Live Extra app available free on Windows 8 and Windows RT devices, Windows Phone, Android, and iOS. In addition, viewers can go to NBCOlympics.com to view live or on-demand Olympics events on a PC or Mac — all being streamed with support from Windows Azure Media Services.
Microsoft customers watching the Winter Olympics will benefit from a connected viewing experience across any Windows Phone 8 or Windows 8, Windows RT, Windows 8.1 or Windows RT 8.1 device.
“During the 2012 London Olympics Games, viewers with connected devices watched, on average, six hours of NBC Olympics’ coverage a day, and we anticipate this demand will continue to grow for the upcoming Sochi Olympic Games,” Guthrie said. “To meet that demand, Windows Azure is leading the way by providing end-to-end live streaming of the Winter Olympics entirely in the cloud, including encoding, transcoding and streaming, for the first time in history. Our partnership with NBC Olympics delivers an immersive viewing experience, bringing the 2014 Olympic Winter Games to viewers’ fingertips, thanks to our powerful cloud technology and One Microsoft approach.”
“We are pleased to be working once again with Microsoft, and we are confident that Windows Azure Media Services will help us provide the most robust streaming experience ever for a Winter Olympics,” Cordella said.
Microsoft has a broad partner ecosystem that extends to the cloud. To deliver NBC Olympics on-demand and live streaming coverage of the 2014 Olympic Winter Games, Microsoft is working with Adobe Systems Inc. and its Primetime TV publishing and monetization platform, including Adobe Primetime Player SDKs for Android, iOS, Windows, Mac OS and other platforms, to ensure full scalability and monetization of video streams across millions of U.S. households. In addition, Microsoft is working with iStreamPlanet and its cloud-based, live video workflow solution Aventus to power live video ingest and multiple bit rate encoding, including ad insertion, for NBC’s streaming coverage of the Olympic Games.
About NBC Olympics
A division of the NBC Sports Group, NBC Olympics is responsible for producing, programming and promoting NBCUniversal’s Olympic coverage. It is renowned for its unsurpassed Olympic heritage, award-winning production, and ability to aggregate the largest audiences in U.S. television history.

Written By: Gerald Youngblood (@GCYoungblood), Director, North America Marketing at AMD A few months ago I was talking to a colleague from another hardware company about “channel people” and how we seem to find each other in a technology crowd. There’s something about trying to find homes for products that you love through the complex web of ecosystem partners, distributors, e-tailers, retailers, VARs, and others who add unique value on the way to an end customer. There’s a thrill in pushing the right buttons and pulling the right levers, but it’s so much more exciting to have a product that opens up a world of possibility. Launching our latest A10 APU, codenamed “Kaveri”, is one of those times. It’s a product that gives you the instant gratification of high system, graphics, and compute performance, but this is no iteration. It’s time for that living, breathing channel, of which I’m a longtime member, to find its inner child. The new A10 APU is an engine for imagination, providing a kaleidoscope of colors to paint with. We’ll start with features like AMD TrueAudio technology where we took the capabilities of a high-end sound card and incorporated it into the APU itself. The technology can be leveraged to build a more immersive gaming or theater experience from one chip. Channel partners can take advantage of AMD TrueAudio technology with upcoming games like Thief by Square Enix. Our newest APU also delivers AMD’s revolutionary Mantle API, giving game developers the ability to cut through layers of software overhead to unlock incredible performance gains for those bold enough to embrace AMD’s Graphics Core Next architecture. These gains are on display in the Mantle update for Battlefield 4 by EA. That’s right, the same architecture found in our industry-leading graphics cards is riding shotgun in the same chip that delivers revolutionary soundscapes. Your inner child’s eyes and ears should be very pleased, but what about the mind? The channel is full of minds focused on profitability and hearts driven by innovating in every way imaginable. It’s also filled with people who have long memories. I often find myself reminiscing about the advent of AMD64 where we decided to take x86 familiarity into a 64-bit future. There are other times when we discuss the transition to multi-core CPUs. AMD and our technology partners are changing the world again with a concept called Heterogeneous Systems Architecture (HSA). The acronym is not important. The critical piece is that HSA allows us to unlock the compute power of graphics cores beyond gaming. With non-gaming ISVs like Adobe and Corel embracing HSA optimization we are seeing significant progress. By uniting the memory architecture between the CPU and GPU on-die and creating programming interfaces to take advantage of that change, performance can scale dramatically. With the help of the channel, our technological innovations can change the world just like AMD64 and multi-core. That’s why I’ll always be a “channel guy.” The dreamers and first-movers prosper by keeping grown-ups happy with return on working capital while nurturing the child within us all with endless possibilities. Gerald Youngblood is Director of North American Marketing at AMD. His postings are his own opinions and may not represent AMD’s positions, strategies or opinions. Links to third party sites are provided for convenience and unless explicitly stated, AMD is not responsible for the contents of such linked sites and no endorsement is implied.
